If a market reveals the soul of a city, then the Jean-Talon Market tells you that Montreal is a vibrant, exciting and diverse city. I recently spent some time in my hometown and made it a point to re-visit my absolute favorite place in Montreal.
I used to live about a 10-minute walk from the Jean-Talon Market. I would spend my Saturdays walking through the aisles and buying whatever seemed good (uh...everything). Living in New York, I no longer have the luxury of enjoying the fresh produce I would find in Montreal. Sure, there is the Union Square Market but it pales in comparison to Jean-Talon.
Going back there a couple of weeks ago, I couldn't help but snap up shots of fresh fruits and vegetables.
A little photo essay...
Can't wait to go back!
Excellent photo essay. I live in New York now, but I visited Montreal last summer and found the city charming. It was a beautiful place to visit. Did you have to get to the farmers' market early in the morning before the customers arrived? I've never seen one so orderly as the pictures on your post.

As a native Montrealer (now living in New York) I am proud to say that the Jean-Talon Market always looks like that. Those photos were taken late in the afternoon. The produce is always that attractive. It's unbelievable.

Beautiful post :) I dare anyone not to fall in love with this market! Jean-Talon is one of the best farmers markets I've ever been too. The produce is extraordinary, in both taste and selection. And I love all the free samples!
